Official address: Autopista Ecatepec–Pirámides km 22+600, municipality of Teotihuacan, State of Mexico.
From Mexico City:
By car:
- Mexico–Pachuca Highway (85D), then the Teotihuacán exit.
- Ecatepec–Pirámides Highway (132D).
- Approximate travel time: 45–60 minutes from CDMX.
By bus:
- Departures from the Terminal de Autobuses del Norte (Northern Bus Terminal) to Teotihuacán.

The archaeological site is open every day of the year, including public holidays.

- On-site museums: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Free admission for Mexican nationals who meet any of the following:
- Children under 13
- Adults over 60, pensioners, and retirees (with valid card)
- People with disabilities
- Students and teachers with valid student/faculty ID
- Researchers and interns (with INAH permit)
- Members of indigenous communities in municipalities adjacent to archaeological sites, with valid proof of address
- Certified tour guides in the exercise of their professional activity, accredited by the Federal Tourism Secretariat
- Sundays (Mexican nationals and residents)
Before you go
- Check the valley’s weather forecast before heading out.
- The hottest part of the day is between 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM — plan accordingly.
- Bring sunscreen and a hat.
- Wear comfortable shoes — you’ll be walking several kilometers.
- Bring a reusable water bottle.
- Set aside at least 3–4 hours for the visit.
- If you’re coming on a weekend, arrive early.
- Avoid public holidays if you prefer smaller crowds.

Access to the pyramids
- Climbing the Pyramid of the Sun is not allowed.
- Access to certain structures is restricted for conservation reasons.

Tips for a better visit
- Wear comfortable footwear.
- Bring sun protection.
- Stay hydrated.
- Don’t run or jump on structures.
- Follow all signage and access restrictions.
- Recommended visit duration: 2–5 hours.
How to avoid the crowds:
- Arrive between 8:00 and 9:00 AM.
- Tuesdays and Wednesdays tend to be quieter.
- Avoid the spring equinox (March) if you’re looking for a calmer experience.
- Start your visit from the southern end (the Citadel).
- Save the Pyramid of the Sun for last if you arrived early.
